ABOUT
It all began in a small village in Southern France. Before embarking on her full-time career as a lawyer, Jane took a gap year to study oil painting in Aix-en-Provence and in the charming village of Aubais, located about 20 km from Nîmes and Aigues-Mortes. Jane is an artist currently based in Hong Kong. Having lived in Boston, Southern France, London, Beijing, and Hong Kong, Jane's experiences have significantly shaped her artistic journey. Her work is a rich tapestry of influences, blending the unique aesthetics of the diverse cultures she has experienced over the years.
Jane's practice is rooted in observation, memory, and the quiet intimacy of everyday experience. Working primarily in oil, her paintings navigate the subtle interplay between interior stillness and the sensory world, inviting a slower way of seeing. Her compositions—often serene and distilled—reflect an emotional landscape shaped by moments of pause, solitude, and delicate attention.
Beyond the quiet study of still life, Jane’s imagination occasionally drifts into dreamlike realms, reaching toward scenes half-remembered or reimagined—visions that blur the lines between memory and desire. These paintings become fragments of a mental atlas: maps of places she has visited and places she’s only known in thought, rendered through light, color, and emotional resonance.
For Jane, painting is an act of presence—a ritual that honors the poetry of the ordinary while giving form to the unseen.
